Jeffrey Ashton earned the title of National Master in high school and went on to a full chess scholarship at the University of Texas at Dallas. He has been coaching in Houston since 2003, and opened Panda Chess Academy to give kids something the city didn't have — a full-time chess club built entirely for them.
Today he writes for ChessBase, serves as a spokesman for U.S. Chess, and still teaches nearly every class himself.
